INAUGURATION OF THE VACCINE DEPOT

The President of the Republic Andry Rajoelina and his wife attended the official inauguration of the vaccine depot and the administrative building of the Directorate of the Expanded Vaccination Program (DPEV) located in Ivato, Antananarivo.Built according to international standards for construction, storage and conservation of vaccination inputs, this infrastructure of 4,500 m², including a warehouse of 2,700 m² and an administrative building of 1,800 m², required an investment of 4 million dollars Americans.

The depot is equipped with the latest technologies to ensure the reception, storage, conservation and distribution of vaccination inputs, in accordance with World Health Organization standards.This project, carried out thanks to a partnership between the Malagasy Government, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and UNICEF. President Andry Rajoelina stressed that health for all is a major priority, illustrated by tangible initiatives such as increasing the vaccination rate from 35% to 86% in three years.

The newly constructed depot will have the mission of storing the inputs needed to vaccinate more than 1.2 million children aged 0 to 11 months each year, as well as providing catch-up vaccines to children aged 12 to 59 months.In addition, in order to facilitate vaccination in remote areas, 153 all-terrain motorcycles were made available to health workers, allowing them to reach populations far from medical establishments.
